FSWrap attempts to devise a natural way of organizing information on computer systems. Our aim is to segregate the storage of data from its retrieval and develop a system which uses data based on current context to create self-evolving structure of information.

Our immediate interest lies in devising a natural way of organizing information on computer systems. We believe that the present file systems introduce unnecessary structure to user's data. The location of data in the system becomes just as important, along with the actual data itself, and the context associated with data is either lost or ignored. In many situations, this context plays a very important role, which is also the sole reason why many music players like WinAmp provide different views of music on top of the one provided by the file system, such as playing music by a specific artist, from specific album, of specific genres, favorites etc. The traditional file names and folder hierarchies are not of as much use in this case as is the meta data associated with files. Though usually the final product is entirely different from the initial idea, our current aim is to segregate the storage of data from its retrieval and develop a system which uses information based on current context to create self-evolving structure of information.
